Things to Do in Salt Lake City, Utah | Early Fall 2023

We’ve been going to Salt Lake City a lot recently and I’ve compiled a list of things we’ve done, places we’ve ate, and hikes we’ve done. Hopefully this list helps you plan your next trip to Salt Lake City, Utah.

Places to Eat

Alpha Coffee

Alpha Coffee is located at the bottom of Big Cottonwood Canyon. It doesn’t get much better than great coffee and a great view of the mountains.

7260 Racquet Club Drive
Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121

The Cotton Bottom

A hole in the wall spot by Big Cottonwood Canyon. If you’re looking for a beer and good “bar food,” the Cotton Bottom is a great choice.

Gracie’s

Gracie’s is located near downtown and has a great atmosphere. The night we were there a live jazz band was playing on the first floor outdoor patio. We had drinks and appetizers outside on the rooftop.

Toasters

Toasters is a fantastic sandwich shop with indoor and outdoor patio seating options. We’ve ate breakfast and lunch there and everything has been amazing. Added bonus, they were very accommodating with a gluten free bread option.

Hiking

Dog Lake Trail

We loved Dog Lake via the Big Water Trail. It was a little over 5 miles out and back with a 1,200 ft elevation change. The hike lived up to the name since we met lots of dogs on the trail and watched a bunch playing in the lake.

Grandeur Peak

Grandeur Peak is a more challenging hike compared to Dog Lake. It’s over 5 miles out and back with a 2,300 ft elevation change. Starting the hike early in the morning is good idea since it can get very sunny & hot later in the day.
